WHAT IF MY PROJECT IS ACCEPTED?

If my film is accepted, do I get passes and how many?
If your film is selected to play at GenreBlast, (first, congratulate yourself. You earned it.) You will receive one (1) weekend pass. Additional passes/tickets are available for purchase. The only exception is if there are multiple directors. Then you can get a free pass for each director.

When I go to purchase, it says Thursday at 4pm, is that for the whole weekend?
Yes.

TRAVEL & LODGING

What airport should I fly into?
Dulles International (IAD) is the closest airport to Winchester. Sometimes we offer a (complimentary) shuttle service to and from Dulles only. Once you have your flight information, please EMAIL US and we will let you know if the service is available.

Is there transportation from the airport to The Alamo?
You best bet is a Lyft or Uber to the Alamo from Dulles. Try to group up with others to save on the cost. Check in at our GenreBlast Alumni page on Facebook for others willing to split the cost of a ride with you.

What hotel should I use?
There are now two hotels located in the same parking lot as The Alamo, a simple walk next door and you're there! The Comfort Inn was completed in 2020, and the Country Inn is the hotel most GenreBlasters are familiar with.

If your film is selected to play at GenreBlast, you will receive one (1) weekend pass per director (completed films) or writer (unproduced screenplays) per project. Additional passes/tickets are available for purchase HERE.

Yes.

How much are tickets?
Weekend passes are $65 and single blocks are $10.

When do tickets go on sale?
July 25, 2025 only through the Alamo Drafthouse Winchester website.

How do I submit my project?
We accept submissions exclusively through FILMFREEWAY

Can I get a Waiver?
No.
​
Will I get a notification about being accepted?
Notifications (positive & negative) will be sent out July 15, 2025.

If accepted, do filmmakers receive passes?
Yes, all projects screening at GB have 1 weekend pass available to them per director/screenwriter. Laminates will be waiting for you at check in.
